Therapy Intensives for Attachment & Trauma Healing
Is traditional therapy just not cutting it anymore?
You’ve done the work. You’ve learned the skills. But something is still holding you back.
You don’t have the time to devote to weekly therapy sessions
Let’s face it: you are probably juggling a billion other things for yourself and your family. Sometimes committing to weekly sessions is just too much. Life gets in the way and you find yourself canceling due to whatever weekly family crisis or added calendar event and your self-care gets back-burnered. It’s just too much to juggle, too often to take time away from work, or other responsibilities, or even to find a sitter to watch the kids.
You’re seeking deeper, more concentrated healing
You don’t want to draw out your healing process over months while we slowly uncover what your mind and heart need. You are a person who likes to get things done! You would much prefer taking a half-day, full day or even two days to dig deep and finally really process things without the fear that a therapist is going to cut you off after 45-50 mins with “that’s all the time we have for today.” More concentrated treatment usually means a much more efficient process.
What is an intensive?
Therapy Intensives are a longer format of therapy that allow the therapist and client to dig deeper and do more work in a condensed amount of time.
If you have been to traditional, weekly therapy before, you may remember how much time in a session may be spent on things like reviewing what all happened in the previous week, reviewing homework or challenges since the last session, checking in on where you are now, and then the process for wrapping up, reviewing and planning for the next session.
In a Therapy intensive those things take up such a small portion of the overall session. The bulk of the intensive session is done in the “working phase” of therapy- processing traumas, patterns, relationship issues and more. We get to process so much more in one session and the changes are often dramatic. Some have estimated that a 3 hour intensive may have an equivalent impact to 4-6 50 minute sessions! A full day intensive may be equivalent to months of traditional therapy!
Typically someone comes to an intensive with a particular goal in mind and that session is aimed entirely at that. We stay laser-focused and don’t get sidetracked by typical dramas of the week that can often distract in typical sessions and instead focus on achieving the goal- your healing on that particular issue.
How Therapy Intensives Can Help You Heal
If you’re dealing with the effects of trauma or attachment wounds, a therapy intensive could be the breakthrough you’ve been waiting for. These issues can impact everything from your self-esteem to your relationships, leaving you feeling stuck, misunderstood, or isolated.
Here are some common struggles therapy intensives can help with:
Feeling trapped by past trauma (flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, emotional numbness)
Difficulty trusting others or forming healthy, secure relationships
Fear of abandonment or rejection in relationships
Low self-worth or feeling “not good enough”
Emotional overwhelm or feeling like your emotions are out of control
Chronic anxiety or panic attacks that seem tied to past experiences
Through a therapy intensive, we’ll work together to heal the emotional wounds that are affecting your present life, so you can experience lasting peace, healthier relationships, and a stronger sense of self.
What Can You Expect from a Therapy Intensive?
Every therapy intensive is personalized to meet your specific needs, but here’s what you can generally expect:
Comprehensive Assessment: We’ll begin by understanding the root causes of your trauma and attachment wounds, so we can develop a plan that’s tailored to you.
Safe, Healing Environment: During our intensive sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to safely process deep emotions and difficult memories, guided by a compassionate therapist.
Trauma-Focused Therapy: We use evidence-based approaches like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) or Somatic Therapy to help you reprocess and heal from past trauma. You’ll also learn practical tools for emotional regulation and self-soothing.
Attachment-Based Work: If you’ve struggled with attachment issues (like difficulty trusting others, or fearing abandonment), we’ll explore how these patterns developed and work on creating healthier ways to connect with yourself and others.
Lasting Change: The goal of our therapy intensives is to help you leave with real tools and insights you can apply in your daily life. You’ll walk away with a greater sense of emotional resilience and clarity.
Why Choose a Therapy Intensive?
You may be wondering: why should I choose a therapy intensive instead of traditional weekly therapy? Here are some reasons why intensives might be right for you:
Faster Results: If you’ve been struggling with trauma or attachment issues for a while, therapy intensives can help you make quicker progress. Instead of dragging things out over weeks or months, you can start feeling better in a matter of days.
Deep Emotional Work: Trauma and attachment wounds require more than just talking about your feelings. Intensives give us the time to dig deeper into your emotions and heal at a much more profound level.
Focused Attention: In a one-on-one intensive, you have the undivided attention of your therapist, which can lead to faster breakthroughs and greater emotional clarity.
Personalized Support: Every individual’s trauma and attachment history is different. In an intensive, we create a plan that’s tailored specifically to your needs, ensuring that we address the root causes of your struggles.

Therapy intensives can be a valuable investment, providing rapid symptom relief and deeper, more focused treatment compared to traditional sessions.
Many clients find that these sessions lead to faster progress and greater engagement! While there may be a higher upfront cost, the benefits of accelerated healing and tailored care make intensives a positive and effective choice for those seeking significant improvement in a shorter time.
-
One reason clients love intensives is because they get 6 months or more worth of therapy in just 1-3 days.
The financial investment may be the same as weekly therapy, but the time frame can be more advantageous, especially for busy people!
The benefit of not stopping and starting so frequently in a therapy session (like in classic 60 min sessions each week) provides the time and space needed to really do a deep dive into a client’s story.
An intensive is a different way of approaching treatment.
-
Therapy Intensives are more effective and efficient than normal 50-minute therapy sessions. Typically in a 50-minute session, there are at least 5-10 minutes of “check-in” at the start of the session and usually, 5-10 minutes spent on “closing up” or “checking out” at the end of a session - Leaving only 30-40 minutes for deep therapeutic work.
Therapy Intensives are different.
A 3-hour Therapy Intensive allows for 2.5 hours of depth work. That’s the equivalent of five 50-minute sessions or more than a month of therapy - in a single day.
-
The cost of a therapy intensive varies based on the length and type of intensive you choose.
I offer payment plans or sliding scale fees in some cases, so don’t hesitate to ask if cost is a concern.
All costs include:
Personalized treatment workbook.
60-minute pre-intensive interview to determine your goals.
60-minute post-intensive session
This is in addition to your Therapy Intensive time, which is 3 hours.
Cost for Single Day Intensive: $1,200.00
Cost for Two- Day Intensive: $1,840.00
-
Absolutely! Therapy Intensives work very well as an adjunct therapy.
I would ask that you sign a Release of Information so that your current therapist and I can collaborate/coordinate to best serve you.
-
Therapy Intensives are not covered by insurance. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse a portion of the Therapy Intensive.
This is determined by your insurance on case-by-case basis.
I’ve had some clients in the past who were able to get a significant portion of the cost of an intensive covered.
However, this is highly individual and determined by your plan.

Let’s schedule a time to talk! I’m happy to answer any questions and explore your unique situation to see if a Therapy Intensive may be helpful for you.

There are many reasons an intensive may not be the best fit.
The most evident reasons are:
The person needs residential treatment with oversight because self-harming is a concern.
The person is detoxing from substance.
The person needs crisis intervention.
The person feels “forced” into therapy. An intensive is effective if all participants are willing.
-
After booking, I hold the dates for one week and require you to complete all of your paperwork in the client portal.
I then charge a non-refundable deposit of half the total intensive cost.
I charge the full fee for canceled or rescheduled sessions with less than 24 hours' notice, or no-shows.
I make exceptions for unavoidable conflicts or emergencies and will work with you to offer other arrangements to avoid the cancellation fee.
